Lifelong intimacy through the lens of boudoir

I've done my fair share of wedding photography, and I've noticed that brides & grooms don't need much coaching on their big day. They're so giddy about each other and so present in the moment that their very existence is an incredible picture in itself: no poses needed. Now just imagine if that chemistry has lasted for 45 years....

My consultation with Mr. T and Mrs. B took place at a local bakery. I arrived first and ordered tea, then waited in a cozy-looking chair by the window. I recognized my clients (whom I'd never met before) from the way he opened the door for his wife. That same thoughtfulness was reflected in his first email inquiry for photoshoot details, which included a brief and lovely introduction. Before I saw their faces I knew about their first meeting, the dream home they built together, and other tidbits about their lives over the last 45 years.

The day of our boudoir session, Mrs. B wore the glow of a well-loved woman. Where many of my younger clients let their minds leave their bodies as soon as the camera is lifted, she indulged in the adoration of her husband. They ran through brightly lit hallways, danced in the kitchen, and lounged in a private hot tub. Never in my career have I captured a couple so visibly in love with each other. Their chemistry eclipsed any whisper of self-consciousness if it ever existed. I wish I could bottle up the afterglow of such a lovely day, but the best I can do is albums and wall art. To be honest, souvenirs don't get much better than that.

Today images can be instantaneously generated, but these two chose to take part in the creative process! It takes guts, vulnerability, and time...but my photoshoots are branded as "experiences" for a reason. A NUVO Photography session is a container for whatever you choose. We carefully curate the environment and prepare your looks together. In fact, so much thought is put into the front end preparation that when you show up, all that's left to do is luxuriate in the moment.

Meeting a couple that fully embraces that assignment and each other is such a privilege. I truly love this work.
